For many, the months between late March and mid-May signify the peak of the Nigerian sun—the perfect window for drying and processing root crops. At Ayosifam, this should be our most productive season, where we have a minimum of 7 hours of clear sunlight daily to dry our tubers to perfection.
However, for years, this “golden window” was hampered by a invisible hurdle: water scarcity.
The Hidden Cost of Water Scarcity
In food processing, water is as critical as sunlight. It is essential for the primary cleaning of raw tubers, sanitation of our stainless-steel equipment, and ensuring every batch of Fufu flour, Garri, and Potato flour meets NAFDAC food safety standards.
In the past, we often spent up to four days simply gathering enough water to complete a single round of production. This delay meant:

Production Bottlenecks: We were forced to turn away crops from our smallholder farmers during the peak harvest.

Increased Waste: Perishable tubers like cassava begin to deteriorate within 24–48 hours of harvest if not processed immediately.

Strained Livelihoods: When we cannot accept more crops, the income of our smallholder partners is directly impacted.
A New Chapter: The BE Empowered Grant
We are thrilled to announce a major turning point for Ayosifam Integrated Service Limited. Through the BE Empower Bootcamp (4th Edition)—a collaborative initiative by Layal Jade Tinubu, the NOELLA Foundation, and Moniepoint—Ayosifam has been awarded a grant to solve our water crisis permanently.
We are currently installing a 100-meter deep borehole at our facility. This reliable, clean water source will allow us to:

Triple Production: We can now process Garri Lebu, Unripe Plantain flour, Sorghum flour, and Cassava flour daily without waiting for water deliveries.

Empower Smallholders: With a consistent processing line, we can buy more crops, more often, providing a stable market for our farmers.

Ensure Top-Tier Hygiene: Adequate water ensures our facility remains a model of food safety.
Social Development: Water for the Community
At Ayosifam, we believe that business growth must translate into community growth. We recognize that many of our neighbors in the Kangile layout struggle with the same domestic water challenges we faced.
As part of our commitment to Social Development, this borehole project will include a public access point. We are proud to provide clean water for domestic use to our community members, reducing the burden on families who previously had to travel long distances or pay high prices for a basic human right.
