Biochar: The Ultimate Trash-to-Treasure Strategy ♻️🌱
One of the most exciting and impactful changes we’re introducing is the concept of circular agriculture, specifically by turning post-harvest waste into a valuable soil amendment: Biochar.
After the cassava stalks or potato vines are left over, they are often seen as ‘waste.’ Instead, we teach farmers how to process this feedstock waste using controlled, low-oxygen heating (pyrolysis).
What Biochar Does:
Super-Fertilizer: Biochar is a highly porous, carbon-rich material. When mixed back into the farmland for the next planting season, it drastically improves soil fertility. It helps the soil retain water and nutrients (like nitrogen and phosphorus) that would otherwise wash away.
Carbon Sequestration: By locking the carbon from the crop waste into the soil (instead of letting it decompose and release CO2 into the atmosphere), farmers are actively fighting climate change.
